Soil Moisture and Temperature Monitoring and Automatic Watering System for Tomato Plants based on the Internet of Things (IoT)

Irfan Ade Ryan Musyaffa

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a system that can monitor soil moisture, temperature, and automatic irrigation for tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum). The system is equipped with several sensors that measure temperature and soil moisture in real time, and the data from these sensors are transmitted to a cloud platform for analysis. The results show that the system can automatically turn the irrigation system on or off to provide water to the plants according to their needs. The test results show that the system can monitor soil moisture and temperature in real time, control automatic irrigation according to a certain moisture level, and support more precise and sustainable agricultural practices. The results of this study offer a creative solution for more efficient and effective agricultural land management, while also making a significant contribution to the advancement of modern agricultural technology. In addition, by providing more advanced tools for managing plant environmental conditions, the system can help farmers deal with weather variability and the challenges of climate change. Therefore, this study not only helps improve agricultural productivity but also ensures that agricultural systems can remain viable and sustainable in the future.
